Science Fiction

First of all I would like to say a massive Happy Birthday to Svenja from the Daring Cardmakers design team.

Its also Svenja turn to host this week challenge and this weeks theme as its Towel day (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) on Monday its all about Science Fiction.

So the Daring Cardmakers would like to see your Sci Fi themed cards which could include your favourite sci fi hero, Dr Who, Spock, Princess Leia.....

Who is your favourite?

I have gone with Mulder and Scully from the X Files.  Unfortunately I didn't have any alien type images to use so I went with the colours that featured on most of the advertising poster for the show which was green and black.

The backing papers I have used are some that I had in my stash.  I think this was probably the first paper pack I bought.  I have had them for years

The stars are from a die cut set from Stampin Up and I cut them from glittered foam.

Monochromatic Rainbow

Its Friday!! And its another bank holiday here in France.  Well actually it was yesterday but love how the French take the extra time off.  My daughter had to make up for it at school though and instead of half day on Wednesday she was in for a full day.

Both her Dad and I are really proud of her she has made brilliant progress in maternelle (nursery) and is all set to join big school in September.

The challenge this week at Daring Cardmakers is called Monochromatic Rainbow and Beckie our lovely host would like you to use one colour from the rainbow, even the card blank has to be the same colour.  Also you need to include an arc on your card like the arc of a rainbow.

I have used my favourite colour purple.  I also used a medallion stamp.  I have not used it for years.  I stamped it out several times and layered the design up and added some purple glitter to the pattern.  I have the box stamp somewhere which goes with the medallion.  I then included a little arc of scalloped circles as part of the layout of my card.

Have a lovely weekend.

The Door To......

Its Friday and that means dare time at Daring Cardmakers.  In honour of our changing over government this week in the UK and No. 10 getting a new resident/s Leo would like you to include some kind of opening door feature on your card.

I had loads of die cut snowflakes left over from my daughters birthday party so I had to use them and of course Frozen had to feature in it somewhere.  This is supposed to be the castle at Arendelle the home of Elsa and Anna.

For the door element I stamped the greeting inside. The song "Love is an open door" pops into my head now.

The papers I used are from the Do crafts Christmas Bellissima collection and I coloured the image using promakers.  The image is from My Time Made Easy which you can find HERE.

Elemental Inspiration for May

Sorry I am a little late with this weeks post but my little girl turned Six last week so I have been a little busy mainly trying to get my house back to normal after having a house full of her friends.

She had a great time and this year was Disney's Frozen.  I have also been busy making things for her party.

I made a little centre piece using Spellbinders snowflake die and a Yankee candle jar with some cotton balls

Here are the little favour boxes for the children.  I made sour cream containers and filled them with sweets.  Also below are the cupcake toppers I made to match.

Right down to business.  As it was the first Friday of the month over at Daring Cardmakers its Elemental Inspiration and Lythan has chosen this lovely picture.

So as always you need to pick 3 elements from the picture which inspired your card. For example it could be the colours, theme of the picture or shapes.

I have gone with the main colours of the picture which to me are green and grey.  I have also gone with the theme by using the little girl with the kite.  My 3rd element is the trees.

The stamped image is from Annabelle Stamps and I have paper pieced her dress and hat.  I then stamped the trees from the same set and added some glossy accents.
